CR Modification
Manager Change
Address Update
Need to change your company name, add a business activity, update shareholders, or relocate your office? All changes to a Qatar company require a formal amendment to the Commercial Registration through MOCI. This guide covers the amendment types, required documents, and processing timelines.
Key points
- Same CR Number: Amendments update your existing details but do not change your company's Commercial Registration number.
- Legal Validity: Your old CR is void once the amendment is issued. You must update the document at the bank and for immigration purposes.
- Computer Card Update: After MOCI issues the new CR, the Computer Card (Establishment Card) on the "Musaned" portal must be updated.
- Bank Resignation: If changing the manager or signatory, you must update the bank mandate immediately.
Common Types of Amendments
The process and documents required vary depending on what you are changing.
Change of Address
Required when moving offices.
- New Lease Agreement (attested by new Municipality).
- Old CR and Computer Card.
- Clearance letter from old landlord (sometimes).
- Signatories must sign at Service Centre (or via Metrash2).
Change of Manager
Replacing the authorized signatory.
- Board Resolution: Signed by partners authorizing the new manager.
- Passport & QID copy of the new manager.
- Resignation letter from the old manager (optional but helpful).
- Musaned Computer Card update is mandatory.
Change of Activity
Adding or removing ISMIC codes.
- External Approval: Required for many new activities (Health, Education, etc.).
- Updated Articles of Association (if scope changes).
- Old Trade License and CR.
Change of Shareholder
Selling or buying shares.
- Transfer Deed: Legal document signed by buyer and seller.
- Board Resolution for the transfer.
- Passport/IDs of both outgoing and incoming shareholders.
- Updated AoA reflecting new ownership.
Documents checklist
Standard Docs
- Original Commercial Registration (CR).
- Original Trade License.
- Computer Card (Establishment Card).
- Passport & Qatar ID of signatories.
Variable Docs (Depends on Type)

- Address Change: New Lease + Municipal Approval.

- Capital Change: Bank letter (if increasing capital).
Process overview
- Internal Approval: Pass a Board Resolution within the company approving the amendment.
- Gather Evidence: Collect supporting documents (e.g., new lease for address change).
- MOCI Application: Submit the amendment request via the MOCI Single Window or Metrash2.
- Fees: Pay the amendment fee (varies by type, usually nominal to QAR 500).
- New License Issuance: The old license is voided, and the new one is issued (expiry date usually remains the same).
- Musaned Update: Update the Computer Card details to reflect the new manager/address.
- Bank Update: Submit the new CR and Board Resolution to your bank to change signatories.
Critical: Musaned Update
If you change the Manager, updating the CR at MOCI is not enough. You must also update the Computer Card on the Musaned portal. The old manager will technically still have authority to hire/sponsor staff until the Computer Card is updated.
Practical note
If you share your activity and ownership details, we can recommend a compliant route and the typical document pack.
