The Qatar investor visa (also called an investor residency permit or self-sponsored visa) allows business owners and company shareholders to live in Qatar under their own company's sponsorship. Unlike a work visa where an employer sponsors you, the investor visa means your company sponsors your residency — giving you full control over your immigration status.
Who Qualifies for an Investor Visa?
- Shareholders of a mainland LLC registered with MOCI
- Partners in a QFC-registered entity
- Shareholders of a free zone company (QFZA, Manateq)
- Branch office managers of a foreign company registered in Qatar

Application Process
- Company registration complete — your CR must be issued and active.
- Submit investor visa application — through the MOI portal with your CR, passport copy, photo, and company documents.
- Entry visa approval — MOI issues an entry visa within 1-2 weeks.
- Enter Qatar — arrive on your investor entry visa.
- Medical examination — attend a Medical Commission centre within 3 days of arrival.
- Fingerprinting — biometric registration at MOI.
- QID issuance — your Qatar ID card is processed and issued within 1-2 weeks.
