Unlike employee-sponsored family visas which require a minimum salary, investor family visas are assessed based on your company status and financial capacity. This guide covers the eligibility criteria, document requirements, and step-by-step process.
Who Can You Sponsor?
- Spouse — legally married partner (marriage certificate required, attested)
- Sons — unmarried, under 25 years of age
- Daughters — unmarried, any age
- Parents — not eligible for family visa; visit visas (up to 3 months) are available instead
Eligibility Requirements for Business Owners
- Valid Qatar ID (QID) as an investor/business owner
- Active Commercial Registration in your name or as a shareholder
- Proof of income — company bank statements, audited financials, or salary certificate if you draw a salary from your company
- Suitable family accommodation — tenancy contract for an apartment or villa (not a studio)
- Health insurance for all family members (Seha or private)
Application Process
- Prepare documents — gather attested marriage certificate, children's birth certificates, and accommodation proof.
- Submit application — apply through the MOI portal (Metrash2) or visit a MOI service centre.
- Approval and visa issuance — processing takes 1-2 weeks. An entry visa is issued for each family member.
- Family arrival — family members enter Qatar on the family visa.
- Medical examination — each family member completes a medical at the Medical Commission.
- QID issuance — after medical clearance and fingerprinting, each family member receives their own QID.
Document Attestation
Marriage and birth certificates from your home country must be attested through a chain: notary public, Ministry of Foreign Affairs in your home country, and then the Qatar Embassy. Some nationalities require additional steps. Plan for 2-4 weeks for document attestation before starting the visa application.
Timing tip
Start the document attestation process for family visas while your company formation is still in progress. By the time your investor QID is issued, your family documents will be ready for immediate submission.

Business owners do not have a fixed salary threshold like employees (who need QAR 10,000+). You must demonstrate sufficient income through company financials or personal bank statements.
Parents are not eligible for standard family visa sponsorship. You can sponsor your spouse and unmarried children. For parents, apply for a visit visa allowing stays of up to 3 months, renewable.
You must provide a tenancy contract for a family-sized apartment or villa. Studios typically do not qualify. The lease must be registered with the Municipality.
